Have you been asked to pay transport or freight costs for a boat you're selling by a potential buyer? We are currently aware of a scam where a scammer places an enquiry posing as a genuine buyer and requests that the seller pay for transport or freight costs.
We highly recommend that you DO NOT pay a buyer money that is supposedly for freight, especially if they have not yet paid you for the vehicle itself.
These are scammers and not genuine buyers. A genuine buyer, even if they are from interstate, would not ask a seller to pay for the freight costs before they have paid for the actual vehicle.
How do I report a potential scam?
If you believe you have received a scam email or SMS from a buyer you can contact our Customer Service Team on 13 72 53 or send our Trust & Safety team an email at email@example.com. Include screen shots of the potential scam messages and our team will investigate.
