At boatsales, we’re dedicated to keeping our buyers and sellers safe.
We invest in technology
We’ve invested in sophisticated fraud technology that reviews all private ads and enquiries before publication or release. This technology enables us to automatically block transactions from known fraudulent devices and is monitored closely by our Trust & Safety team. We’ve also developed an SMS verification tool to help validate enquiries and protect the details of our sellers – if a prospective buyer does not pass the verification process, they will be blocked from placing an enquiry.
We inform and educate our users
The ‘Protecting Yourself Online’ section of our Help Centre is updated regularly with the latest online scam alerts which means you can keep an eye out for false enquiries, phishing, SMS and payment scams. We also have our safety tips which offer important advice on how to protect yourself online, whether you’re a buyer or a seller.
We’re here to help 7 days a week
Our Australian customer service team is available to take your calls 7 days a week. We have a dedicated Trust & Safety team which investigates any feedback we receive relating to suspicious activity on our site. Our Help Centre is available 24 hours, 7 days a week where you can report scams and stay up to date with the latest security updates.
Online scams can take on different shapes and forms. The best way you can avoid being the target of a scam is to be aware of what to look for and get to know your phishing from your fishing. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. To learn more about the different types of online scams, visit our scams to look out for section.
